How long does a shoe? Last

All changes, even the most coveted, they carry little melancholy.
A. France

I've always wondered how long a shoe, I never know if the change too early or too late. Ground control kms of shoes and change them on the 700km ....¿ many? Few? ... Tell you the truth I do not know, as far as I have to change a shoe that gives me my right tibia, if it starts to bother this is a sign that the shoe have to think about change. ... I'd rather spend money on shoes is not physios.

Taking advantage of a change of shoes I have compared two models:
  • Mizuno precision 8 (with 500km, orange) and precision 11 (30km, yellow) Mizuno
  • rider 12 (with 720km, green) and 13 with rider (150km, copper)

Mizuno precision .- on 290gr mixed neutral shoe, I use to compete up to half marathon and quick workouts (mainly series).

wear on the lifting of the heel and toe of the shoe. Sole in good condition. Compression waves (wave) damping system mizuno. Continues to maintain the buffer and have some miles left to live, but not much more than 100km.

Mizuno Rider .- neutral training shoe on the 320gr, I use it for all training, but mainly for long runs and marathon competition.
The Rider 13 (copper color) trained 100km on long runs for the marathon and ran Rotterdam'10, perhaps the comparison is not entirely good, as the shoe "suffer" more on long runs, but the rider 12 (green) has many kms.

Similar wear than the previous model, the main observed signs of wear as the "eyes" of the buffer system (wave) Mizuno, where in the model with more miles is easily beatable, while in the new complex is also disappearing left heel wear the logo (x10) of the sole of the shoe. This sign is the best and fastest vision gives me the shoe wear .

Conclusion .- A visual effects is very difficult to know whether to change the shoe, the wear of the heel is more the result of wear for my bad stride drag heel in the long run than a sign of wear on the shoe, and that the precision that is not listed. From 100km all shoes seem as old / new. The best way to know the life of a shoe is trying to overcome the damping with the hand and depending on how easy it is to decide how much you have left. Having
kms is an option to me works pretty well, since it is analytic and not dependent on feelings.
The height difference between the old and new shoe is significant but hardly "measurable" if not by comparison with another.

continue to investigate, how easy it would put a warning taquito as in car tires ... lol .... thank goodness we have a few more miles to investigate.
